The Eudunda Community Business & Tourism Committee (ECBaT) & the Eudunda Caravan Park Subcommittee are excited to announce a further extension to the facilities available at the Eudunda Caravan Park. The park currently has 8 powered sites after increasing the number of sites by 4 in November 2020.
The next stage is to purchase & locate two 2-bedroom cabins to provide accommodation for tourists & workers visiting our town & region.
The Caravan Park Manager is currently receiving significant enquiries for cabin accommodation which the park is unable to provide.
The expansion of the Caravan Park is a significant investment in the future of our community as a tourism stop & accordingly will generate additional income for the community of Eudunda. Many of our neighbouring towns of similar size have had caravan parks & cabins established for many years. eg Kapunda, Burra, Morgan & Riverton. The expansion of the caravan park & the addition of cabins fills a gap within our community facilities.
Eudunda is situated in the middle of 4 major tourist regions in South Australia – the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Burra & the Riverland. All these areas are comfortable day trips from Eudunda, so there is potential to promote Eudunda as a central tourist place to stay while visiting these areas.
The Eudunda Caravan Park is situated on the eastern edge of Eudunda on the Thiele Highway. It is surrounded by many facilities such as the Eudunda Swimming Pool, Eudunda Sporting Complex, Eudunda Oval, Eudunda Netball & Tennis Courts, Eudunda Show Grounds Buildings, Children’s Playground, Eudunda Golf Club, Eudunda Area School, Eudunda Red Cross Op-shop & Eudunda Day Care Centre. The area has activity but also tranquility.
The town centre is a short walk away past the Eudunda Railway Station (under renovation), the Viterra Silos (a mural painting project is currently being undertaken) & the Centennial Gardens (Colin Thiele) Gardens and War Memorial Gardens and the Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery. ECBAT’s Visitor Information Service is in the process of an upgrade to provide information and Eudunda is now well placed to look after visitors with a good choice of various food, coffee and drinks venues. Eudunda can also boast a Supermarket and Roadhouse open 7 days a week for extended hours. The caravan park provides an attractive resting place on the edge of town for the community, visitors, tourists & workers.
ECBaT & the Eudunda Community have increased the number of tourist opportunities available in the region in the last 10 years. Some of these events are as follows: Eudunda/Kapunda 24-hour Reliability Motor Cycle Trial, Walky 100 Car Rally, Lavender Federation Trail for walkers & the Lavender Cycling Trail (M2C) for cyclists, ‘The Barn’ at Wombat Flat musical events at Neales Flat near Eudunda, the Iris Flower Gardens Open Weekend (several locations) & the Eudunda Christmas Street Parade. Ongoing events include the Eudunda Show, Australia Day Breakfast in the gardens, ANZAC Day celebrations, JAK Golf Weekend & many Lawn Bowls competitions. The addition of two 2-bedroom cabins adds some expansion & alternatives to the existing accommodation available in Eudunda via the hotels & bed & breakfast accommodation.
A recent initiative by the Clare & Gilbert Valley Council and the Regional Council of Goyder was to develop further tourism trails in the area, with the aim of inviting our visitors to stay a day or two longer in the area and enjoy it more. The financial benefits to the district are well worth the effort. Work is underway to develop these and other trails to expand the assets around Eudunda and the district.
The ECBaT Caravan Park Subcommittee organizing & promoting this project is: Judy Partington (Chair of ECBaT), Greg Post (long term member of ECBaT & original member of subcommittee from 2017), Steve Wegener (Manager of Caravan Park) & Mel Zerner (ex-resident of Eudunda).
The estimated cost of the two cabins including preparation of the site & connection of services is $170,000. This is planned to be funded by committed cash donations of $55,000, “in kind” donations of labour & machinery of $20,000, a Government grant (currently being assessed) of $75,000 & community donations still to be received of $20,000.
A donation promotion is being conducted over the next 4 months to raise the additional $20,000 to fund the project & a flier is now circulating.
Please consider making a donation to assist ECBaT to undertake the project.
If you have any questions, suggestions or wish to make a larger donation or offer support in some other way, please contact:
